Indian indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 saw high gains as the market closed, surging for the third straight day.

The Sensex rose by 800 points to close at 49,734, with the Nifty rising 200 points to close at 14,865. Over 1,785 stocks saw positive gains, 1,178 declines and 181 remained unchanged. ‘

The S&P BSE MidCap index gained 200 points to close at 20,482. Ahead of the US Fed policy outcome, banking and auto sectors gained. Bajaj Finance rose by 8.3% along with Indusland Bank, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank and Kotak bank which were among the top gainers in Bank Nifty with rises around 3-5%.

On the other hand, Nestle India, HCL Tech, L&T, TCS and DRL lost out on the market.

The Dow Jones remained largely unchanged with NASDAQ.
